Alexander Klemm joins Acxit Capital


Alexander Klemm joins Acxit Capital as Managing Partner.

Alex started his professional career at Deutsche Bank in London, holding various positions in investment banking, working in New York (1987-90) and in London at Morgan Grenfell & Co (1992-95). From 1990-92 he was executive assistant to the Chief Executive Officer of Deutsche Bank. In 1995 Alex joined Lehman Brothers in Frankfurt as an Executive Director  responsible for corporate finance in Germany, but in 1997 moved to SBC Warburg where he was later appointed Managing Director and Co-Head of UBS’s investment banking activities in Germany. In 2001 Alex was asked to join Cazenove & Co in London as a Managing Director and Member of the Corporate Finance Board to assume responsibility of Cazenove’s activities in Central Europe. He established the Frankfurt office and built a successful mid-market advisory and capital markets business as head of investment banking Germany, Austria and Switzerland. 

Following the acquisition of Cazenove by J.P.Morgan Alex led a management buy out of a part of Cazenove’s European operations in 2008 and contributed these into a new partnership with the German private bank Hauck & Aufhäuser where he was made a partner. He was Chief Executive Officer of the firm’s mid market investment banking operations including Corporate Finance (M&A, Equity Capital Markets and Debt Advisory) and Capital Markets (Equity Research, Equity, Fixed Income, Derivatives Sales/Trading and execution). Late in 2011 he left and joined Acxit Capital as a  Managing Partner.

In his career Alex has worked on over 80 M&A and 30 Equity Capital Markets transactions generating over €100bn in transaction value and raising some €20bn in capital respectively. 

He is a member of various boards and a supporter of a number of charitable and cultural organizations.

Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Alex was raised  and educated in Germany, England and the United States. He read Economics and Politics at Bristol University (B.Sc. Honours) and completed a MBA at the Columbia University Graduate School of Business in New York followed by a PhD. in Finance (Dr. rer. pol.) at Freie Universität Berlin in 1987.
