DomusVi Group acquires advita, a German Specialist for elderly housing and integrated outpatient care

Frankfurt am Main, 15 July 2021. ACXIT Capital Partners acted as the exclusive M&A and financial advisor to DomusVi, an ICG portfolio company on the acquisition of advita and the successful entry into the German elderly care market.

Guided by its “Domus2025” Strategic Plan, whose launch was announced on 1st July, the DomusVi Group initiates a new growth and transformation cycle to meet the challenge of an ageing population and contribute to seniors’ well-being, especially by maintaining an active social life in a safe environment in Europe and Latin America.

This acquisition in Germany, submitted to the antitrust authorities for validation, ushers the DomusVi Group into one of the European countries most affected by the challenge of an ageing population and completes its geographic coverage of Northern Europe after moving into the Netherlands (December 2020) and Ireland (January 2021) over the past few months.

In line with the objectives of its “Domus2025 Strategic” Plan, advita represents, for the DomusVi Group, in addition to geographic expansion, an extension of its accommodations and services portfolio. Advita The DomusVi Group acquires one of the German housing specialists and integrated outpatient care for the elderly. His original ‘advita Haus’ concept offers, under one roof, various types of accommodations, daytime care services and a wide range of à la carte services and healthcare. These housing facilities enable seniors to live ‘at home’ while benefiting from a range of easily accessible social activities and services. Thanks to this concept, advita was voted “Operator of the Year” by the Altenheim-Expo in 2017.

Today, advita runs 41 of these houses in Germany and plans to open 51 more in the coming years, including 5 this year after launching operations in five new facilities over the first 6 months of 2021. The DomusVi Group will draw on the know-how of the current management team to execute this development plan and try to widen its scope. Mr. Faensen, long-time managing partner of advita, will retain a minority stake in advita alongside the DomusVi Group.

Peter Fischer, CEO of advita stated: “We are proud to join the DomusVi Group, a reference in the field of senior care and accommodations in Europe and Latin America. By leveraging the expertise and means of DomusVi, we will be able to accelerate our development, enabling as many Germans as possible to have an ‘advita Haus’ near them where they can grow old in an environment offering complete freedom and safety.”

Sylvain Rabuel, CEO of DomusVi Group added: “We firmly believe that the ‘advita Haus’ is a relevant concept, meeting the legitimate desire to grow old ‘at home’ while enjoying a wide range of easily accessible social activities, services and healthcare. We are delighted to be able to support the current management team in executing its development plan and benefiting from the expertise of Mr. Faensen, long-time general partner of advita, who remains minority shareholder at our sides. This acquisition is a major step in the implementation of our ‘Domus2025’ Strategic Plan”

The parties have agreed not to disclose the financial terms of the transaction.
