German University EBS becomes part of SRH Higher Education
Frankfurt, 05 August 2016. SRH Higher Education GmbH acquires 100% of the shares of EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht gGmbH. With this strategic partnership SRH expands its leading position in the higher education market in Germany and secures the long-term development of EBS University.
Heidelberg based SRH Holding (“SRH”) is the parent company of SRH Higher Education GmbH (“SRH Higher Education”). SRH operates in the health care as well as in the education sector and aims to facilitate further growth in the higher education market. Together with EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht (“EBS”), SRH Higher Education operates in total 10 universities with more than 12,000 students. Universidad Paraguayo Alemana (UPA) in Asunción, Paraguay which was founded in 2013, is one of these 10 universities and underlines SRH’s endeavor to expand internationally.
Founded in 1971, EBS comprises the EBS Business School (based in Oestrich-Winkel and founded in 1971) as well as the EBS Law School (based in Wiesbaden and founded in 2011).
EBS faculty members, its Alumni Association, the EBS Foundation, and the board of EBS support the new shareholder structure.
“With SRH we have gained a strong economic partner with 50 years of experience in the education market. Having SRH as a shareholder provides an excellent base for a long-term development of the university”, said Holger Follmann, the Managing Director of EBS.
Both sides have agreed to maintain confidentiality regarding the purchase price. The brand and name of EBS as well as its campus locations, faculties and employees at EBS will remain with the university. The non-profit organization SRH Higher Education takes over the campus Oestrich-Winkel and will further invest in refurbishment and extension of the property (in particular the EBS campus building ‘Schloss Reichartshausen’).
